The Collection

A place where every enthusiast can immerse themselves in the history of Alfa Romeo automotive production, from 1928 to the present day.

The origins of the collection date back to the late 1970s, when Axel Marx, shortly after obtaining his driving licence, began purchasing classic Alfa Romeo cars.

Over the years, the collection continued to grow, eventually becoming recognised as the most comprehensive collection of vehicles from the Milanese marque in the world.

Since 2017, the entire Alfa Romeo collection has been part of Collection Marx gemeinnützige AG.

Alongside the more widely produced models, the collection also includes numerous unique and rare examples, one-off creations, prototypes and a selection of historically significant pre-war cars.

Visitors can also admire the creations of some of the most renowned coachbuilders and automotive designers of the past.

Of particular cultural significance is the substantial number of Alfa Romeo vehicles manufactured in Brazil. These models differ from those familiar to European enthusiasts, having been specifically designed for the Brazilian market and produced locally.

The collection also features vehicles manufactured in other overseas countries, including South Africa and Argentina, as well as cars built to US-market specifications.

Alfa Romeo light commercial vans in a variety of configurations are also represented.

To ensure their proper technical preservation, the cars are periodically moved by the collection’s staff; some of them also participate in historic events and public exhibitions.

The Marx Collection logo is the result of the creative genius of renowned automotive designer Zbigniew Maurer (formerly of the Alfa Romeo Design Center).
